Valentine’s Day: Fall for your fashion

Okay, so we know Valentine’s day isn’t a real holiday.  And while we may not be all about the romance and hearts and chocolate, we’ll take any excuse for a festive outfit.  Who doesn’t love a good red and pink color scheme?

If you’re a fashionista like us, we know you own your fair share of “a pop of red” pieces.  Now’s the time to whip em out.

How cute are these red on pink outfits?  We love the bold and oh so appropriate clash of color.

As girls it’s in our nature to love a holiday all about romance.  Trust us, we get it.  But we understand sometimes you want to fly a little under the radar on this day of love.  You can still embrace your love for the holiday while staying subtle.  We suggest rocking your festive hues, but pairing them with other non-valentines day colors like black or navy.  Keeping your wardrobe traditional for the work place?  Add your pop of Vday colors in accessories.  Stack on some red bangles, pumps, beaded necklace, or nail polish.

If Valentine’s day isn’t your thing, grab your best, hot and feminine pieces and embrace your indifferent attitude.  Nothing says, I love myself like a LBD or pencil skirt.

What better way to celebrate love than to show off your love for fashion?! Happy Valentines Day Fashionistas!

‘Tis the Season to Sparkle

It’s officially the season of shopping, and we couldn’t be more excited.  Okay, so maybe it’s about shopping for gifts, but we all still deserve to spoil ourselves now and then.  After all, what better way to get in the Christmas spirit than with a festive wardrobe?  Whether you’re attending or hosting a party this season, it’s time to start planning that perfect party outfit.  And if you’re not quite sure how to give your look that holiday feel, add some sparkle and experiment with sequins!

Whether you go all out, or try just a touch, sequins are guaranteed to spread holiday cheer.  It’s hard to go wrong with a sequin dress, which can work for both formal events or your casual soiree.  Try all-over sparkle or a dress with sequin details!  This statement dress makes it easy to pair with all of your go-to basic accessories. To mute the sequined number, pair it with rich textiles, like leather or velvet. It will tone down the sequins while still giving you that holiday formality.

If that seems like too much too soon, take a shot at sequin separates.  A top, skirt, blazer, or even pants are all amazing holiday pieces.  The possibilities are endless, but be careful not to out gleam the Christmas tree.  Pair these dazzling separates with basic pieces.  A sequin skirt is just right with a black sweater.  Or throw on a sequin blazer over a t-shirt and jeans for an instant party outfit! For an even muted take on this look, pair it with traditional holiday pieces, such as a tartan skirt.

If you already have your favorite LBD set aside for the festivities, introduce sequin accessories as something special for the holidays.  Heels or a clutch are a great way to add a little glimmer to your timeless looks. While sequin-covered attire might seem like a bold purchase, you’ll definitely get your money’s worth.  After all, you can bring them out again for New Year’s!  And even though trends change over the years, the holidays will always be a season to sparkle.

Black Friday Countdown: 1 DAY!

Well tomorrow is the big day!  I’m happy to say my prep has gone amazingly well, but still smoothing out some of the details.  I’ve been scoping out the stores and stalking (admittedly) the STA Facebook pages for all of the newly consigned pieces.  I’ve got my heart set on some great items, and tomorrow’s my big chance!

We’ve got limited time.

The opportunity to get 50% off everything in the store only lasts from 7am to 10am!

So here’s the schedule for tomorrow:

6:00 am: Wake up
6:30 am: Grab the girls and head to Newbury St.
6:50 am: Outside STA 176 Newbury and eat a quick, energizing breakfast (yogurt?)
7:00 am: STA spree!
7:55 am: Walk to STA 219 Newbury St.
8:00 am: Shopping spree at STA 219 Newbury
8:45 am: Starbucks break (crossing fingers for no line)
9:00 am: Spree at STA 324 Newbury St.
10:00 am: Celebratory wrap-up brunch with the girls

I’ll definitely be heading back to STA on Saturday morning for free mimosas and 30%-50% off.

Black Friday’s like our birthdays, it’s a weekend-long event.

As expected, I’ve got my eye on my wish list items at each store.  While they might have already sold, I have faith that they’ll come in again.  Hey it’s the holiday season … wishes do come true.

176 Newbury: Burberry scarves spotted, Michael Kors essential wristlet, and helloooo Louis

219 Newbury: Stunning holiday dresses, calling dibs! Burberry scarf second spotting, Milly cross body, and statement necklaces galore.

324 Newbury: I see you, Tory Burch flats.  Cocktail rings, check!  And a gorgeous Jcrew flower necklace.

I may more excited on Black Friday Eve than Christmas Eve … STA knows my style better than Santa anyways.

Festive Fashion for the Fourth

It’s all about the red, white and blue! Designer Tommy Hilfiger, who incorporates these iconic colors into so many of his designs said, “these colors reflect freedom, optimism and a youthful spirit,” and we couldn’t agree more.  On this holiday, whether your celebrating at a cookout with your family or heading to the beach, one look we recommend trying is a nautical style.  But don’t forget, you’re not the only fashionista limited to this color pallet, so try to find a way to make your look unique!

A great and easy way to incorporate blue into your outfit is adding anything denim.  Whether it be your favorite pair of blue jeans, or a chambray top over a blouse, denim is always a safe go-to.  If you’re attending a party a bit too formal for denim, a navy dress, skirt, or pair of high-waisted shorts are other great options.

If your closet is not full of bold, red items,  there are plenty of ways to add a splash of red into your look.  Bold red accessories, like a statement necklace are a great option.  A more casual outfit could be completed with a simple red scarf or headband.  As you put the final touches on your look, we recommend trying a bright red lip or polish.

If there is any holiday when you should rock your favorite white jeans, it is this one! A white sundress is also a great option, or if your outfit is already complete, bring along a plain white sweater or blazer to throw on, in case it gets chilly for the fireworks.

Rocking this patriotic color combo is not limited to just the 4th, its a classic style all summer!  When putting something together for the fourth, just keep in mind there are no rules! You certainly don’t have to balance out how much of each color you incorporate, we love when a simple belt or jacket pulls it all together. Here’s a casual outfit we put together using some plain and popular items this summer.

The opportunities to be festive this fourth are endless, so try to be a fun, unique, and patriotic fashionista this Independence Day. And remember, every STA store has tons of options, just waiting to be worn for the 4th!
