Ashley - The Pop Culturist

Fusing fashion and fun, Ashley looks outside of runway inspiration for her sense of style, taking cues from all areas of pop culture. From fashion how-to’s to teen sensations to designer trivia, she’ll get you inside the style scene from every angle.

Who is your favorite designer? For couture gowns (which I wish I had a use for): Oscar de la Renta; for handbags: Fendi; for shoes: Giuseppe Zanotti; and for everyday apparel: DVF (or Oscar de la Renta, if money grew on trees).

How would you describe your personal style? Sparkly classic. I’m big on preppy, timeless items, but I can’t resist anything that sparkles.

What is your favorite after-work or weekend hot spot? When I’m going out with my girlfriends, there’s nothing like Finale in downtown Boston, what’s better than a restaurant that revolves around dessert? Nothing.

Which STA store is your favorite? I always find myself at 176 Newbury, but Charles St is like a little treasure chest with some real gems on the shelves.

What is your latest fashion splurge? I splurged and got a Tory Burch wrap dress from Neiman Marcus recently that I tried on and fell in love with. My only wish was that I found it cheaper at STA, but either way, it was worth it.

What is your latest fashion deal that you scored? Ferragamo patent bow flats for $71 at the 219 Newbury store. I had been looking for flats just like them for a while, and as soon as I saw them I pounced.

Leslie - The Beauty Queen

From brows to bone structure, Leslie has an in with the beauty crowd, always knowing the best techniques to keeping your beauty routine fresh. She knows that the best way to complement an outfit from Second Time Around is with your best face (and hair) forward.

Who is your favorite designer? My favorite designer is St. John. Its classic and exudes elegance. I hope one day I could be trenched from head to toe in St. John.

How would you describe your personal style? I don’t have one particular style but everyone at work thinks I’m a chameleon. I dress how I want and it definitely depends on my moods. If I feel I need to wear my Frye boots and leather jacket I will. However sometimes I just want to wear a LBD with my Chanel boots. I prefer to try every style, explore my options.

What is your favorite after-work or weekend hot spot? After a wonderful Sunday night shift fellow co-worker Shannon and I head to Joe’s Bar and Grill right across the street. It’s convenient, the bar is beautiful and the crowd is mellow. Good way to end a Sunday night. Try the pomegranate margarita - taaa die for.

Which STA store is your favorite? Of course 176 Newbury but I do LOVE the Newton store. You can find great pieces there.

What is your latest fashion splurge? I consigned my Tory Burch flats and that very same day I bought Tory Burch boots that came an hour later. I say, fair trade :) .

What is your latest fashion deal that you scored? This purchase was over the summer in Newton. My 8,000 dollar Giorgio Armani blazer for ((drum roll please)) $200. Yes ladies 2 bones, I know I died a little inside too. I just sit and stare at it, pretty magical, if I do say so myself.

Kristen - The Classic Urbanite

She’s the definition of “casual cool,” knowing how to take on the city elements armed with comfortable yet trendy pieces. This downtown girl knows the secrets of the city, from style to sandwiches.

Who is your favorite designer? I think my favorite designers are always changing but right now I’d have to go with Rachel Roy.  Her pieces are modern but have a bit of an edge to them.  And of course there’s DVF.  Who doesn’t love DVF?

How would you describe your personal style? Classic and simple, yet have high hopes that I’ll one day I’ll be able to glam it up.  I am a sucker for staple black and grey pieces but try my best to add jewelry or a cool shoe to keep me from looking boring.

What is your favorite after-work or weekend hot spot? I LOVE the Parish Cafe on Boylston.  Unfortunately they took my favorite sandwich off the menu but, a little insider secret secret, if you ask for the Rowdy’s chicken sandwich, they’ll still make it for you! And trust me you want them to - chipolte mayo is all I’m gonna say.

Which STA store is your favorite? All of them!  What kind of question is this?

What is your latest fashion splurge? I got a black Elliot Lucca bag on sale for $90, to me that’s a splurge.

What is your latest fashion deal that you scored? I got an awesome transitional summer to fall top from French Connection on sale for $30.  So far I’ve paired it with shorts and wedges and am waiting for the perfect fall day to pair it with jeans and boots.
